G-L Block

Image hosting by PhotobucketSampler Tabletopper c.1998 Dutch Treat Designs -- designed by Claudia Dutcher

Image hosting by PhotobucketI started in a corner ... worked the A-F block ... another corner ... finished the G-L block yesterday afternoon [while sitting in the car -- Alex had candy to sell for Radio Club] ... and started my 3rd corner last night.   There are 8 squares to stitch +herringbone rows to add.   Would like to finish this up soon : )

I'm sure my family would prefer me getting some household chores completed!!!

Last episode of Bleak House tonight on p.b.s.   I cannot wait for the conclusion ...

some progress

Image hosting by Photobucket
Maybe more this week-end ....

Teri: To answer your question, the fibers listed on the web site are the fibers I bought. The perle Coton #12 is for the nun edge -- the perle coton #5 & watercolour are for the motifs. It is very pretty -- My photos don't do justice!!

Care to Comment?

Image hosting by Photobucket
Today's SBQ was suggested by Heather & is: Comment on your comments (giving and recieving): Do you love comments or hate them? Do you check them every day, never check them, or find them helpful? And finally, are you convinced no one is reading your blog if you don't get any?

The permalink to this post is: Renee's Blog Happy Stitching!

A. Yes, I like "giving & receiving" comments. It forms & strengthens friendships. I check comments left on my blog when I'm on-line. I have a site meter which tracks the number of hits on my blog - so, I know how many visitors I have. : )

Image hosting by PhotobucketSome progress on BOAF's Love. Not much free time with boys home from school (& Nicholas not feeling well). They were out of class at 12:30 Thurs + return to school on Tuesday. Tori competes in I.U. Sing Fri & Sat .... Break a Leg!

We had unusual weather yesterday -- windy, warmed up to 60's -- thunderstorms -- hail -- DID I MENTION WINDY? -- tornado sightings -- then, temperatures dropped --lots of fog(some snow flurries) dropped to 17 degrees!! Now it is about 20 degrees with a forecast of below zero tonight ( -10 to -30 wind chill readings ) Got Winter?

RAK'd : )

Image hosting by PhotobucketLook what came in the mail? Cathy sent this exquisite hardanger piece! The perfect smyrna cross, excellent kloster blocks, delicate dove's eye, detail on the edge, beautiful color (lilac/pink) are spectacular & surpass anything I could ever accomplish! Thank You so much!

Image hosting by PhotobucketA close-up to showcase Cathy's skills. The edge is beautiful as all the 'corners' are rounded. Totally Awesome.

Image hosting by PhotobucketAnd, look what else was in my P.O.Box ... Chelle sent some Homespun Elegance,
Image hosting by PhotobucketCross-Eyed Cricket, DMC & freebie designs. I'm gobsmacked. I'm grateful! NINE new patterns. As Chelle says, "I'm so spoiled, I stink!!" Thank you - Thank You - Thanks a heap : )

Image hosting by PhotobucketA delivery truck came to the door ... very rare event ... DH sent me tulips from Organic Bouquet. Not only are the flowers wonderful on the table, the mauve box is going to house my scroll rods!

Image hosting by PhotobucketI used Anchor 152 (navy) + DMC 221 (dk red) for my Tin Pin Heart. The temperature soared to 53 degrees -- bright & sunny day. It was just too nice to be indoors. Didn't get it mounted into the tin (yet).

Image hosting by PhotobucketLaunched the BOAF's Love. Did change the fibers from Sampler Threads to Floss. Looking forward to putting in more stitches today as it is back to usual Winter weather -- overcast, temperatures falling, forecast of rain-sleet-snow.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Image hosting by PhotobucketPictured: Drawn Thread Heart Throb freebie, Folk Heart Needleroll by Shep Bush, a gift from Bernie W --The Nutmeg Needle, A-Mazing Hearts (Christmas Ornaments 2002 magazine), Needlebook & fob Heart's Desire Needlecase & Scissors Fob Of Female Worth.
Image hosting by Photobucket Yes, forgot to list this in the other picture. These are Homespun Elegance Button Heart (stitched by my Mom), needlebook is a Prairie Schooler (I think - I lost this pattern), Hope Sampler Accent by Periwinkle Promises, Drawn Thread Mat Gentle Spirit by Emie Bishop. The small box with kissing cherubs is a sewing kit & the silver pin was a gift from DH a couple years ago.
Image hosting by PhotobucketAren't these neat? Sampler Ornaments by Handwork (I have #7 & #8)... Maybe would use some sort of dk red instead of the black fibers. I think I must have a couple freebie Workbasket designs around here someplace.

I finished stitching Tin Pin Heart. Not sure how to mount it into the tin!! It is stitched over one thread & didn't take very long. (picture tomorrow?)

Thought of the Day: It takes about 45 min to drive to the nearest LNS .... it takes a few steps to enter my CLOSET ... and, I like everything I've already bought : )

Heart theme continues ...

Image hosting by PhotobucketPictured above are: Shep Bush Treat Bag; Lizzie Kate Feb FlipIt; Name tag (pattern from a magazine); & Love is Kind pin ...from Mary Garry's Sewing Cabin pattern. Seasonal Mementos II
Image hosting by PhotobucketMore stash! WOOT! I bought the Workbasket Hearts for the Pennsylvania Dutch motifs -- the sampler is really very large ... I thought they'd be cute done as single pincushions or something. The other two patterns (Of Female Worth Wear Your Heart & Twisted Threads Tin Pin Heart) are for PINS .... PINS .... PINS.

Image hosting by PhotobucketWTF: Shep Bush Fob -- Aren't heart strings cute? Was supposed to be a scissors fob & I thought too large ... was thinking of making two small pillows out of these designs.
Love Scissor Fob

Getting Ready for Valentine's Day!!

Image hosting by PhotobucketI'm really enjoying going thru my "stuff" for Valentine's Day. This is SOME of my stitched items. I have more ... stay tuned.
Image hosting by Photobucket
Image hosting by PhotobucketWTF: I really should figure out how to FINISH this Pin Pillow. (front+back) It has a buttonhole edge w/fancy chain stitching in each corner. It is the Judah Hayle Pin Pillow from Sampler & Antique Needlework Quarterly. Spring 2001 SANQ
Image hosting by PhotobucketWith so little spare $$$ (daughter in college) I opted to find some STASH with heart themes. I was thinking of doing the BOF over one -- The Shep Bush kit was a door prize (won this a couple years ago!). Heart Blooms

Is there a PERFECT project???

Image hosting by PhotobucketAs promised, here is this week’s SBQ, as suggested by Nancy:

Describe your “perfect” project. (Include the designer or specific pattern, the fabric, the floss, and anything else that would make that project “perfect” for you.)

Permalink to this post: Renee's Blog

A. What a tough question. I don't know what would be "perfect" but I like to stitch traditional sampler motifs, alphabets & critters (rabbits, cats, birds, etc) If $$$ were not an issue .... stitching with silk would be my preference for everything : )

Tabletopper in progress

Image hosting by PhotobucketI started the Sampler Tabletopper during Superbowl. I didn't get many stitches in (yet). I am enjoying these motifs!!
Image hosting by PhotobucketDutch Treat Designs. Designed by Claudia Dutcher. c.1998 The web site has some freebie patterns.
PLUS -- There is a yahoo group for Tabletoppers

Barbara: Tabletoppers are stitched on a nine square cut of 18-count Anne Cloth, over 2 threads, using size 5 perle coton &/or 1 ply of Caron Watercolours thread. Toppers are about 22" x 22". (per the Dutch Treat Web Site)

It looks like maintenance continues on the e-mail system ... was supposed to be down 12 midnight to 6am .... and it is 8:22a.m. .... and still no e-mail. sigh

Got buddies?????

Image hosting by PhotobucketThis week's SBQ was inspired by my visit with Dawn and is:

With the exception of your online stitching friends, do you have any other stitching buddies? The permalink to this post is:
Renee's blog

I started on a new Tabletopper during Sue's Superbowl of Stitcher's party (yesterday afternoon). Was really nice to be invited to a party & launch a new project. Our group is called the Thread Heads. There are get togethers almost every month. Aside from the stitching .... I really enjoyed the Show-n-Tell & seeing what everybody else is working on. The Drawn Thread Game Board is one of my favorite WIPs being stitched by Melody; and soon by Kay. (neither of them have blogs YET!)

Nicholas earned Gold at ISSMA on Saturday, then we went to my Mom's to help assemble a chest of drawers & move some boxes. Sunday was the great party -- nice to chat & stitch with girlfriends. I wish I could have stayed longer - hard to do with DH on call, etc. Earlier today, I helped my Mom move into her new apartment. Well, the movers did most; I did a lot of cleaning at the former place. Helped rearrange her stuff in the new place. She needs to finish her closet & unpack her books. Also today is DH's 50th Birthday. I bought him a book he was looking at called Marley & Me (has a lab puppy on the cover).
