Christkindlmarket | Chicago

Experience a traditional German Christmas at the Christkindlmarket, inspired by the Nuremberg Christmas market dating back to 1545. This outdoor market offers handmade gifts, ornaments, rare European fabrics and textiles and German delicacies like brats, goulash, potato pancakes, cookies and Gluhwein (a warm spiced wine). Christkindlmarket hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 23. It's open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 24. Admission is free.

FYI: Visit http://www.christkindlmarket.com.

My kids have gone to this event in the past - with the French and German Clubs [from the high school]. I really should get out more!!! Doesn't it look like fun??

I would love to go to that. It sounds lovely. Looks like Chicago and maybe you (?) will be getting some snow in the next day or so. Stay warm!!!

I do so love Christkindlmarket. I work a few blocks away so I always go over to Daley Plaza a couple times during the market. Brats n wine, anyone? :) And I always buy a couple hand-blown ornaments from one particular shop there.
