The Keiskamma Altarpiece

From the Web Site:
In 2006, St. James Cathedral was host to the Keiskamma Altarpiece from Hamburg, South Africa, a monumental work of art created by 130 people, mostly women, from this Eastern Cape Province as a hopeful response to the AIDS epidemic in their community. Chicago was the first stop on a United States tour that has continued to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington D.C. before it returns to St. James Cathedral from March 26 to May 14, 2008.

Stitching friends ...

I was adding more stitches to Moon Garden, and realized I had a Supervisor

After watching me stitch for 30 min or so, Honey (cat) decided it was time for a nap. Buddy (dog) in the background.

The weather is just windy and brrr cold. Per forecast, this wind (some snow flurries) will continue thru tomorrow. Never mind it was 50 degrees earlier today!!

Happy Hearts SAL

I added some letters using Onyx {WDW}
I think I'm keeping the Old Blue Paint - as a substitute for Chesapeke (which I probably didn't spell correctly)

As I have been asked this question more than once, as far as I know, Happy Hearts is NOT out of print. I checked the website at House of Stitches and it is listed for $7.00. (shop & mailorders) Plus, I looked at the Hoffmandis site & see they have 52 Birds of a Feather patterns listed, which includes Happy Hearts. I'm thinking it is available at your LNS or ONS, too. Anybody interested in gathering up supplies is welcome to stitch!!!

Fiber Blues .... actually, GREENS : )

(left side) Willow / border - the ones I am no longer using.
(middle) Buttermilk (moon).
(right side) Willow - the fiber I am NOW using.

This photo might night be much help. The border is in Willow (the ones I started out with) -- the sliver of moon Buttermilk -- darker green is GAST Avocado -- and the blob on the left is Willow I am NOW going to use .... I frogged out a lot of the border -- did leave some in so I wouldn't have to RE COUNT : ) IMO - was worth switching. Keeping my fingers crossed I can finally just stitch the darn sampler!!!!

YAY!!

Got mine today!

For those of you who enjoyed my cat picture. I think better pictures are here. She really is an interesting pet : )

Ta Da !

hip hop; alphabet edge sampler (kit)
c.2001 Pine Mountain Designs

I used DMC floss 3727, 420, 422, 522, blanc, 318, 3041 on 14-ct hearthstone [pillow case edge]. Egg button from kit. Suggested 2-ply floss for all cross-stitch; however, I used 3-ply. IMO ... was better coverage with 3 ply.

It is nine degrees outside. brrr...Nice to be thinking about Springtime.

hip hop ... almost finished ...

hip hop
alphabet edge sampler
c.2001 Pine Mountain Designs

As you can see, photos don't fib, I have one bunny to stitch. Yeah, I know, I said I'd finish it last night & move on to Happy Hearts today ...

Last night, DH, Alex, & I went out to the foreign film festival to view Curse of the Golden Flower. Goodness. What a colorful film. And the battle scenes just freaked me out -- they had these warrior people who were swinging down on ropes & just reminded me of the flying monkeys from Wizard of Oz. So, blame the night out on the town for my NON-FINISH.

NEXT -- Happy Hearts SAL. You can see Carol's start on her blog. I know Chelle started her project; however, don't see a pic on her blog [yet].

PER E-mail QUESTION ... Yes, I do still have pets. I have been posting their portraits on my other blog. If interested, you can see the latest HERE. I try to keep this blog for stitching-related projects. Everything else on the other blog site.

Moon Garden WIP

Blackbird Designs - WIP ... sorta ...

I admire stitchers who create lists ... and goals ... and accomplish more stitching than I could ever dream of!!! I noticed many New Year lists of WIPs & began to wonder ... "What ever happened to my Moon Garden?" Tore thru my stash on a hunt ... Oh my. Can this actually be a WIP? With so few stitches? Guess it needs some attention!!!

Nifty to be 50!

This was passed along to me from my DH. LOL. It plays a jazzed version of the birthday song "You say it is your birthday ..." as the hampster dances with the walker. A GF, Mel, sent me a hilarious card which reads: "Birthdays are like bunnies ... You start out with a couple, then before you know it, you see so damn many that you can barely keep track of 'em all!!" LOL. And, my dear MIL gave me a card which, when open, plays the Meow Mix jingle from the tv ad. LOL. Loads of smiles all around.

Lucky me received WDW fiber & awesome Cattitudes card from GF Sue D! Thx a million. : ) My Mom gifted me with a House of Stitches gift certificate. Go Mom. Wonderful to talk for hours with my older sister, too. Guess being 50 is the new 40 after all!!

Sadly, our daughter Tori returned to college this evening. I enjoyed her visit & I am so lucky she put up and took down all the holiday decorations!! Plus, she bakes. She cooks. She mastered double baked potato for the holiday meal. Everybody should be lucky to have the wonderful daughter we have!!! She is a star : )

Tomorrow, nic works, alex has rehearsal, and I'm stitching : ) Will sprinkle in some housework & if the weather warms up ... will take the boyz shopping for new jeans in the late afternoon.

What I'm reading ... post here
