Adding beads ...

Project Encore by Carmen Rupert
I'm using DMC 312 PC#5 & Watercolours by Caron 068 Mediterranean
I'm trying to get the beads added today & have selected material for the lining

Last Saturday, Karol & I went to House of Stitches in LaPorte. Karol (Rosebud's Stitching blog) is coordinating a SAL for the NANI chapter members of EGA. She had 18 signed up to stitch My Favorite Things by The Drawn Thread. Special Thx to House of Stitches for having everything together -- looked so nice!!! (& thx for the extra special you-know-whats). I'm certain the NANI group will be thrilled to start this project at the chapter meeting in March!

After shopping, I found a basket of tatting shuttles & pattern books. And - GET OUT - guess who knows how to tat? Did you know there was a tatting expert at House of Stitches??? I bought a couple shuttles : ) And may have a couple lessons soon.

Thx to Karol, we met up with Paisley (Stitchin' Post blog), Coni (Spinster Stitcher blog) & Crys (Coni's sister who doesn't have a blog - and who needs one). After filling our shopping baskets we went to Portofino Grill for lunch. We had a smashing good meal, awesome conversation, & promised to get together again soon. Maybe even to stitch!!!

I've tried to tat and just couldn't get the hang of it at all... love how it looks, though. You'll have to post a pic when you get some done :)

OMGosh!!! That is so freaking cool! You are going to have tatting lessons from a real LIVE person!!! Woo Hoo!!!

You know that old saying...I think it's a chinese proverb or something like that...
"When the student is ready the teacher appears."

It's so true!!!

I'm really happy for you and your good fortune in finding tating supplies and a teacher. I look forward to seeing some posts about it, hopefully! :)

I suppose if I would have been quiet for two consecutive seconds, I would have heard about the NANI stitch-a-long. I have this and love it...can I play? Fabulous time on Saturday...can we do it again? I'll bring the Tylenol.

I so love tatted lace, but could not get the hang of it. We had a tatter in our smocking guild for awhile and she tried to teach us, well she succeeded better with some of the members than she did with me. Your fingers are much nimbler than mine and will catch on quickly. :D Can't wait to see both your tatting and your sal!

Your day out with fellow stitchers at House of Stitches sounds divine! I'll look forward to hearing more about your tatting progress. Sounds interesting.
