He said the pain at the base of my thumb was common with <br />"needlepointers"--from holding the hoop--that gripping motion. Yep, that's it. For me, knitting is worse than stitching, tho. I also had two additional issues with my thumb (bone spurs in the knuckle and an inflamed tendon for which I got a cortisone shot).
