Insert for Needlecase

c.1993 DJV Designs
Designed by Dorothy Van Kalsbeek

This is one of those needlwork treasures, which I have owned & decided it was time to load it up with needles, scissors, and stitch the top!! I completed the stitching part in December posts & pics here. I used Mill Hill Petite Glass Beads: #40123; 42024; 42029. DMC Floss: #451; 501; 502; 503; 712; 3722; 224; 223; 951; 3752; 3756. DMC Perle Coton #12 ecru. Stitched on Antique White 36-count Edinborough linen.

After consultation w/Marjorie, Moonsilk Stitches blog, who suggested using tape to secure the needlework to the needlecase/wooden box ... I struggled to get this needlework mounted. I am happy with the results!

  1. What a beautiful finish! I love this little design and have looked for a copy since seeing you stitch it. Actually, I might be able to "kinda" copy it from the enlarged picture! Love it!

  8. I love small wooden boxes, and if they have needlework attached, I like them even more. Well done, Lelia! "Treasure" is the perfect way to describe it!

  10. This looks great Lelia, and
    the finish does look amazing.
I think the wood trim edging
the piece sets it off nicely.

You've got a great knack for
    these dainty little designs.

    Reading Vonna's comment also
    reminded me of the fair
    competitions that you enter
and I too am curious to see
    what you might be entering
    this year.

    Hope you have a wonderful
    Fourth of July.

    Cheers!

  11. It's very pretty. I have one of these wooden needlecases (and the kit), but haven't stitched it as yet. After seeing yours, I'm sorely tempted to start mine!
