Button: Dorset Buttons

Cartwheel
Dorset Button
Pattern by Anna McDowell.

I had a class / zoom (earlier this year)
and she provided a nice kit with a 2nd ring, to
try using a different fiber (than what was in the kit).
The white one - was made
during class.

For the 2nd ring:
I used Anchor Mercer Crochet 10
Col. 1012.  Lot. 722314

1" rings.

I took classes thru The Lace Museum virtual education.

Dorset Button Workshop: Beaded Spiral

Kit and pattern by Anna McDowell.
Etsy:  Dorset Buttons.

I did not use the beads which came with the kit.   I had some 8/0 Sea Foam Lined Japanese seed Beads (Miyuki) that I used.   The fiber DMC BLANC Broder Special Coton A Broder No. 16.  40mm Ring.

Two buttons were instructed during this zoom class.
First, we learned the spiral -- then, the beaded spiral.
Delightful class - awesome instructor!

This was a zoom class thru the
Lace Museum virtual education.

(Many classes being offered:  Clones Lace, Binche, Tatting, Designing Torchon, Buttons, Flanders -- etc.)

Dorset Button Workshop: Spiral

Pattern and Kit by Anna McDowell
thru The Lace Museum virtual education.

(and, YES - they also have In-person education.

Anna McDowell's web site:   Dorset Buttons at Henry's Buttons.
Shopping: web site and Etsy.

For this button, we started with a 40mm ring and 6-yards of DMC Broder Special, Coton a Broder, BLANC.    I added another 3+ yards to complete the ring.

We covered the ring, added spokes, and
then made several rounds to create the design.
(photo above are my hands creating the button).

The next button, from this class - Beaded Spiral Dorset Button.
Stay tuned.
