Button 38: Schwalm Shirt Button

 Two of my supervisors.
Watching me with needle and fiber in hand.    Today, created some Schwalm Shirt Buttons.

The four white - round - buttons:

First was making the round balls.   I used 3.5cm round circle of cotton fabric,
running stitch, with Londonderry Linen (Ivory) thread 50/3.    Added some fiber fill.
Closed them tightly -- ready to embellish w/buttonhole stitches & add the shank.

Three were pretty close in size -- one was smaller.
The smaller one:  I used DMC coton perle 12, col Blanc.
The other three, I used DMC coton perle 8, col Blanc.

Thanks to Beth - for the linen thread (spool)!!
I am grateful for our friendship.

My supervisors want to be fed ...

Pet Pix

Because there are blog followers, unable to leave comments, I have been asked about our cats.   I guess I haven't posted about them in awhile.   Yes, we still have four indoor kittys AND 1-2 ferel, outdoor kittys that come by.

This is Jasper.   He poses for the camera!
He was a driveway drop off that we adopted.
He is apx 9 yrs old.

Jasper + Callie.
Often curl up together.

Callie - apx 5 yrs old.   Not sure where she came from.  She just showed up pregnant and kept visiting.  We guessed she was a barn cat.  Unsure.   We adopted her after she was injured - during her recovery, she got along well with the other cats, so we kept her.

Honey, driveway drop off, is 15 years old.
Honey is camera shy, enjoys sun spots in the house, curls up under desk lamps, or floor heater vents.  She does catnap with Callie.

Simon is our son's cat. He came indoors one 4th of July.  He is about 9 yrs old.  When our son adopted Apollo - the two males didn't get along.   So, Simon is back in our household.   Simon gets into EVERYTHING all the time.
He does not like to be picked up, or brushed.  Every evening he is the first to run into bed.

This is Apollo, I enjoy visiting him when I use our son's treadmill.   Does not live here - lives in our son's home.

In addition to our indoor kittys, we have visitors.   I feed them so they leave my birdfeeders alone.  Plus, they keep the chipmunks away.
We've named him Hobo, or Beau Kitty.  His first nickname was 'little ugly'.

This one is an infrequent visitor, and our Callie doesn't like this cat.   I've seen it a few times this winter.

When our children were growing up, living here - we had multiple dogs, cats, chinchillas, hermit crabs, fish tanks.

trying new needles & new knit pattern ....

This is a sample.   From Blog post:   " How to knit the Triangle Stitch Pattern".
Blog: We are Knitters.   The Blog.   Link Here

I used Cascade yarn with US 8 ZEN needle.

This is a sample from blog post:  "How to Knit Flowered Columns".   Blog:  We are Knitters The Blog.   link HERE.

Plus, a little progress on Spiral Rib Hat.   (red / Crimson).     I am a project bag lady.   Seems I have an assortment of bag shapes and sizes, and seem to use them ALL.   [the 'cat' is a tape measure from 10,000 Villages.]

Jasper and Honey sharing the top shelf - Jasper, the larger cat in back has tail and back leg hanging down.

This is the tulip tree in our yard - with snow packed inside the buds.   The snow hanging on today - when it warms up this week, the snow will melt!

Super Saturday ..

Two finishes ... The Beginner Scarf from knitting class and second hat.

Pulled out the sock set ... have the cuff going on one.   Visited the local yarn store as I lost my place in the pattern for the 2nd sock.   Also, got a quick tutorial on the sock bind off.   Hope the "pair" will be done before spring.   The knitting on small needles takes awhile!

Simon playing inside a grocery bag
... and, Jasper looking innocent ... as he took the cloth off the foot rest ....
looking innocent.

pets

My sister sent these lovely books to me.  And I set them near my desk - keeping them close to pick up and read a few more pages ... guess who thought they were perfect stools?  Yep, Mr Katt.    I had the window open and he decided the books made perfect chair for peering out.   What a hoot.   (this time he didn't topple over DD's bear).
Meanwhile, while Jasper (above) and Honey (below) were sitting near the other windows, they fell sound asleep once the sun set.  What a lovely day - nice to see sunshine and keep fingers crossed for Spring.
