72: Leek Cross - traditional

I used a 20mm wooden mould.  (apx 3/4").
[A tad larger than the Children's Button, made in December.]
Presencia No.12 Perle
C/4218, Tint.873.

This is a 'Children's Button' [center] - you can see the wooden mould sizes that I had at the time.   Children's Button is apx 5/8".  I took the picture with perle cotton balls so you can see the size of the button.    Blog Post - link here.

73: Triangle Wrap

 

I purchased this hand dyed fiber from a vendor several years ago.
I only have a small amount left - I did show it to a girlfriend who owns
a fabric dye business.  I wouldn't know where to begin to try HDT --
It reminds me of brown twine.   Hard on the hands.
Liked the colors & give it a try on button mould.

Thread Wrapped Button: Teneriffe

Thread Wrapped Button / Week Four, Third Button

Teneriffe Button

Pattern/Instruction by Karen Smock.
Zoom Class thru The Lace Museum virtual education.

The fiber was with our kit.   Says Crochet Cotton #10.
It works like a Lizbeth fiber (IMO).

We used a button mould, padding (polyfil), and fabric.  
Teneriffe was created on a template.
then sewn to the button.

Thread Wrapped Button: Pinwheel

Week Four, Second Button:

Pinwheel

This was my second try.   I used DMC Color 959, No. 8 Perle Coton.

The patted button was created with a Clover yo yo maker, polyfil, and a button mould


This one was created during class (zoom).   I used a clover yo yo maker,
no padding. Button Mould.  DMC 5 coton perle, Color 518

with a mistake or two (or more).

This was my 2nd attempt with ribbed button - I added a few more 'spokes'
to this 1.5" button mould.   (Color 210).

Thread Wrapped Button: Eight pointed Star - 2 Colors

 Week Three:

8-Pointed Star (2 Colors)
This is the 2nd button from week three.

I used Coton Perle #5.
Colors 3325 & 977.
Apx 1.25".

I have a good start on the 3rd button we were taught earlier this week.   
Not sure if I should continue or start over!  Stay Tuned.

These are done via zoom thru The Lace Museum.

I saw the instructions & chose coton perle colors
that matched my needlebook.

Thread Wrapped Button: Outlined Star

Week Two:

From week two button making, zoom classes via The Lace Museum Virtual Education.
Pattern by instructor, Karen Smock.

For this 1.25"  button, I used 
Coton Perle DMC #5.
Colors 554 & 745.

I've orderd more button moulds (wooded pieces used under the fibers).
I have color ideas and want to create more : )

Still putting together the other button from this class/session.  Uses three colors and I have a good start ...  stay tuned.

Thread Wrapped Button: Staphorst

Week Two:

The Thread Wrapped Buttons (zoom) class
continued.   Pattern by instructor, Karen Smock.

I used DMC Coton Perle #5.
Color 518, 754, & 677.
apx 1.25"

I'm still creating two more buttons from the class.   The zoom group is so very creative, and FAST with their needles and fibers.    Well, not me, kinda slow-poke, so, stay tuned.

Death's Head Button


Tried the (Button 1) Death's Head Button, again.
This one is 1   1/2".   I used DMC perle coton #5.
Color 604 and Color 772.

I think it looks better than the first one I tried (previous post)

 

Thread Wrapped Buttons

 Week One:


I signed up for four button making sessions.  Karen Smock is the instructor of these sessions..


On Wednesday, we made three different buttons.

Button 1 - Death's Head Button.

I used DMC perle coton #5.  Color 799.   Not bad for the first try.   


Button 2 - Cross Button.

I used DMC perle coton #5.  Color 353.  I think my 2nd button came out better than the first one.


Button 3 - Square Wrap Button.

I used DMC perle coton #5.  Color 554.


These have four spokes.  Each of the buttons are about 1.25"
