Knitting progress + treasures

Lucky, lucky me!!!   The winner of Wendy's giveaway!  The pearl bracelet fits purr-fectly --- Each time I've worn it, I've received compliments!     http://umintsuru.blogspot.com/2018/07/cream-pearl-bracelet.html

Vintage finds while shopping with my sister.      Spool knitters are my weakness.   I think they are fun to own.   And fun to find in vintage stores.
The vintage sewing ruler.   The older ruler is already in use!

My sister came for a visit (in August) and she brought her vintage beaded necklaces with her!   This is one I chose, from quite an assortment!  A turtle, hearts and crystals!   She enjoys going out to 2nd hand stores and picking up vintage necklaces.  The washes the beads + findings, then puts them back together with a creative twist!

I've had this kit (from Stitches Midwest) and decided I should finish it!   I think I'm 75-80% done.   The lace knitting slows me down - the results are beautiful!  Angela's Dream Scarf by Jeanette Estee Famulari

This was a class - taken at the Local Knitting Store.
I started my 2nd Mosaic knitted bag.   The first one I knitted came out so nice -- and I had extra yarn for a 2nd one.   Colors will be similar.   Pattern is Mosaic Bag by Cindy Walker.   Yarn I am using is Erika Knight British Blue Wool.

The last two knitting classes I've taken, at the local knitting store, were taught by Laura Ricketts.  The subject:  Twined Knitting.
Such a treat to have Laura's twined knitted pieces in hand.  It is a beautiful technique.   Awesome color and texture.  We learned to use z-spun yarn and create braids and the crook stitch.
Maybe one day I'll have cuffs --- I am so glad I know this technique.   I doubt I could have figured it out by videos and tutorials on line!!!   Laura also brought a couple books for us to look thru -- this one caught my eye + I was able to find it on line.   Out of print, and not very expensive.

The "F" word --- yes, finished.   Woolenberry's Hearald wrap.
This one took awhile.   I would do a few rows, set it aside.  Knit a few rows, set it aside.  The store in Bloomington, Indiana closed - I'm not sure where to find more of this yarn.   It is a dream to knit with.

I've continued the lace edge from Piecework Magazine.   it is called Lace No. 10 -- from Mary Elizabeth's 1935 book.   I submitted a photo & it was published in the April issue!
  Imagine that!

Our DD's kitty enjoys the KnitPicks bag from
Stitches Midwest.   This cat cannot ignore a tote!

These stitch markers were a 'win' from the Stitches Midwest Scavenger Hunt.   I enjoy going + seeing all the new patterns and yarns.  And toys!!!   It is great to find a bargain here-n-there.

This past Spring, I made a few dish dresses for girlfriends.   A fun addition to most kitchens during spring cleaning!

I may give up on cup cozy -- not sure I'm crazy about the final knitted results.

update

I have continued to knit Antarktis (pattern by Janina Kallio).  Yarn is wood rose, BloomingYarns Cashino.   Also a few more rows on hitchhikker wrap (no curent pic)

News.  In the current Piecework Magazine,
my knitted Lace No. 10 photo is on pg. 4.  I know.  How cool is that?
more info on the trim, LINK HERE.

I struggled with dishcloths knitted on the diagonal.   GF, Sue, had knit these many times.  She patiently showed me the ropes, and I finally got the hang of it.  Sugar n Creme yarn, size 9 needles.

... and, once I had the 'know how' knit this for GF Amy.  Pattern is Leisure Arts, Love to Knit Dishcloths by Evelyn A. Clark, called Radiating Hearts.  Sugar n Creme.

... this free pattern was from Yarnspiration web site -- link HERE.  Sugar n Creme yarn.

This is  new-to-me yarn, Lion Brand 24/7, cotton.    Pattern is Leaf Lace dishloth ...  link HERE.

I like to have my fav needles close at hand + worry about ruining the points.   I have been using this wonderful woven pouch + it is perfect.

Toys -- did you see the sheep shape stitch markers?

I wasn't sure about the yarn-it, yet, when I saw the sale, bought a pink one.   I hope to keep the "hat" yarn free of cat fur.   oh, the shedding.

Fusing ... embellishing.   More photos - link here.

My iron is a mess -- a gust of wind blew the mistyfuse into the iron plate.   After cleaning the iron, I am looking forward to making this owl kit w/DD.

and.... if you like contests ....

Treasures

Mary Elizabeth's lace no. 10

from Mary Elizabeth Greenwall Edie's 1935 hand made book.

(more info Piecework, May/Jun 2016:  A Treasured Knitted-Lace Sampler Book)

The Annual Lace Issue of Piecework Magazine is a favorite of mine.   This knitted trim (photo above and below, front and back) pattern was from a hand made book.    The book has samples and hand written instructions.    The article has photographs of some of the pages - would be great to knit all the samples!!!

IOLI Class: Kelli Slack

I took knitting lace shawl class at the IOLI convention.   Taught by Kelli Slack.
I learned so much!   Kelli provided pattern & an awesome booklet - full of information needed to make a lace shawl.
Ilwaco Shawlette pattern, by Kelli Slack.
I'm using us4 needles,  Simple Sock, Lilliput Yarn, color Sasha.

Practice pieces pictured above & below.   Kelli brought yarn from her store, for us to use as practice.  That was so very helpful to me!    Her pattern is written out and in chart form.   I focused on the chart - just wanted to learn how to interpret knitting charts (in general).
(teal color yarn is Tonos Carnival sock - Misty Alpaca.   http://www.mistialpaca.com/yarns/collection/tonos-carnaval/).

This is a photograph of a completed shawlette - notice the waves?

The other pattern, by Kelli Slack, that I purchased, is the Leafy Lisa shawlette & yarn.   I liked the chunky yarn & looked fun to make.   More information re. Black Sheep at Orenco's facebook page or web site.
Purchased Kelli's sock book - there are some charming patterns here ; )

purchased some xtra Lilliput yarn and project bags from the Black Sheep at Orenco vendor booth.
yes, also gave one to our daughter (who has 2 kittys).

Photos above & below:  raffle prizes won at the IOLI convention.

Above, flash drive and hand made paper give to participants at the Fri dinner.   Photos below (back and front of charm) - IOLI charm for convention/committee participants.

Next year, Convention will be near Philadelphia at King of Prussia, PA.   Stay tuned to IOLI web site and Liberty Lacers web sites.
