Pin Pals aka Pincushions ...

For the second time this week, my post has posted before I finished typing and editing. I am not sure what I'm doing differently! I apologize for typing errors and general fumbling.

This afternoon, I checked this out from the public library:
What a nice book! (Web Link Here) I read a post by Annette about these charming pincushions and the spookie eye was such a hoot!! She has links on her post.

Meanwhile, my GF Marjorie went ahead and made a creepy eye overnight!! Marjorie also shared a link for these stunning teacup pincushions with little houses, trees, etc., on top. A must see: Mimi Kirchner creations!!

Makes my simple pincushions wimpy in comparison!

I've started a bottle cap collection & hope to get my hands on some felt to make some smallish ones. I do enjoy seeing the variety on line : )

I also checked out the latest in the Elm Creek series:Web Site Link here

Needlework & book news:

IMO, the Flowers & Friends Stitching Club patterns are great. Not only are the designs delightful, the patterns are large, diagrams are large, and who could possibly resist the little birds?
Forest Song
Designed by Elizabeth Foster

I used suggested fibers on 25-count raw linen by Zweigart
Barbara, the green leaves are stitched with Sheep's Silk Dark Moss (The Thread Gatherer). That fiber & charm were with the pattern.
Imagine this little thing has been sitting in my closet for eight years, and is finally STITCHED! I have too many WIPs tucked here-n-there!

Is the lace being read, bobbin lace?? Sounds like it might be...
Has anybody read this one yet? I've heard a lot about it & read an excerpt / first chapter. Sounds like there is another book, sequel, being released, too. Please advise if this is a no-miss!!!
Web Site here
Blog here
I cannot help wonder how much is about bobbin lace making vs a mystery or whatever. Next time I'm at the bookstore, I'll have to look this one up. The library has it on order and a ton of requests.
Like I need another book on my pile of must-reads!!!

Looks like the next novel in this series is a story that includes recipes.

It is being released in October. The Quilter's Kitchen by Jennifer Chiaverini

Death's Junkshop

pg. 105: "You should do what my mother does," Megan said. "She keeps each of her works-in-progress in a separate box labeled with the name of one of her friends. If, God forbid, she should pass away unexpectedly, each friend will receive the box with her name on it and think my mother was working on a quilt especially for her. She uses the names of women she doesn't get along with, too. She says it's a great way to make sure she has plenty of guilt-ridden, sobbing mourners at her funeral."

OH ... so that is what I need to do with my WIPs!!

No Stitching . . . been reading

I have been enjoying these Elm Creek Quilts Novels. I'm not sure how many there are in the series; however, I know the new one is on the NYTimes Best Seller's List.

There is a very nice web site with quilt block patterns, book news, blog by author, block-of-the-week, etc. Web Site Here. I enjoyed reading the Sugar Camp Quilt book best. The other two I read were very good, too.

No complaints with the weather this week-end. It is perfect!!! Nice breeze, sunny, 70s, how awesome!
