Preparing for zoom class ....

On Tuesday, I have a zoom class thru the Lace Museum virtual education,
with Anna McDowell.   Henry's Buttons.

I've got two rings, from her kit,
ready to embellish.

The first photo has a few of the buttons I've
created with her patterns (thru zoom sessions).

In addition to the trees, Anna McDowell with teach a Dorset Button
with crystal beads -- looking forward to that session, too.

Or, if you are interested in a button program --

go to the Virtual Education section -- of the Lace Museum.

Scroll down ....  look for:

"Certificate Program for German Thread-Wrapped Buttons"

"Course Description: Monika Hoede and her associates at the TracfhtenKultur Beratung (Traditional Costume Culture Center) in Krumbach, Germany have created a button certificate program in which students make 100 different thread-technique buttons. Karen was given permission to adapt the program with additional buttons by Anna McDowell (England), Gina Barrett (England) and Sabine Krump (Austria). She and her first students are also just finishing their translation of the course book, Posamentenknopf, into English."

Not quite to 100 buttons (yet) ....

While I still have a few more buttons to create .... I want to thank all of you for following along.  I think you can see the progress I've made.

If you were thinking to go on this button making journey -- you might want to look into the course information and details.   Next terms are beginning in September.   They are sessions via zoom - IMO a nice way to learn from home!   Have my favourite lights, chair, tools at the ready.

I think I have 5-6 more to put together

out of the 100 buttons covered in the three terms.

And, I re-made a few along the way, so I have quite a

variety of colors and styles.

And, I'm still learning.

Button 24: Schaumburg Star w/Foil .... Costume Button

Schaumburg star w/foil + Needle weave points.

1" wooden bead.   DMC Perle 8 Color 321.
DMC Perle 5 Colors 367 and 321.

This button was created a few months ago, and I didn't care for the one I made then.

  I even added an edge.

I didn't think it was quite 'right', based on
the instruction and photographs in the book.

I like the new one.   I used a smaller button mold.   Actually a wooden bead.
About an inch in size.   I started with DMC Perle 8, Color 321.
Switched to Coton Perle 5, Color 367 + Color 321.
The shiny paper was from a Hallmark envelope.

There are beginner Dorset Button
Sessions listed via The Lace Museum virtual education
web page.

If you are interested in giving buttons a try,
check out the site.

If you are familiar, there are also workshops for a Dorset Tree,
Spring Flower, and one with crystal beads.
