Back to School, looking back over the Summer activities

Fortunate to visit Dallas, TX in August.   Return to Infinity, Yayoi Kusama
at the Dallas Museum of Art.

I attended the IOLI Convention for a week - with Wednesday "free day"
where I chose to visit the museum.
More LINK HERE re. my tatting & needle lace classes, purchases, etc.

A lot to see in the museum.  For the textile readers of this blog, I chose these to share:

Went to the $2 Tuesday Day,  at the Indiana State Fair
with DD.   We ate our way thru all the vendors!!

I visited the Art Institute a couple of times -- Excellent exhibits of Gustave Caillebotte, The Sculptures from the Torlonia Collection, Frida Kahlo / Mary Reynolds Month in Paris, and WOW'd by Raqib Shaw's Paradise Lost.  Lunch out doors around the fountain / courtyard.

Enjoyed concerts -- Robin Trower in Nashville, IN

Beautiful day in Chicago, IL

And the Japanese Women Artists
prints were exceptional:

 The butterflies were stunning.

The roads are closing - in preparation for the street race over the week-end.   If you are planning to watch on television:

"Coverage of the Chicago Street Race Xfinity event begins at 2 p.m. CT Saturday on NBC. Coverage of the Chicago Street Race Cup event begins at 3 p.m. CT Sunday on NBC and Peacock. In addition, NBC Sports Chicago will offer two special coverage shows surrounding the event.   "

After Five ....

On Monday, DH and I visited the Art Institute of Chicago

for the Van Gogh & the Avant Garde; The Modern Landscape exhibit.

Incredible exhibit with lovely paintings on loan, many from private collections.   The exhibit closes 9/4.

Following that - we went to Gino's East Pizza.
Chicago known for its deep dish pizzas:
DH in his 'shades'.

We had an hour before catching the 3:57 express train back.
Visited the Starbuck's Reserve -- I don't know, maybe 4 stories high
on Michigan Avenue.   Nice bar.   Nice place to people watch.

Our day in Chicago

We enjoyed the Nick Cave: Forothermore exhibit at the MCA.

The Art Institute of Chicago had a special exhibit of David Hockney.  Photos not allowed.   David Hockney:  The Arrival of Spring, Normandy.   Nice to also view the Thorne Miniature Rooms, Hartwell Memorial Window, and the textile galleries.

Us reflected off the Bean - Millennium Park.

December - to - now

Yes, I really did have a finish.   I finished knitting my maroon scarf.   Seed Stitch in December.

I'm pretty close to finishing the blue/grey scarf, too.
I have added the fringe on one end.   have the fringe cut for the final end - so, am just knitting the 8 row repeat until the yarn is used up.   Probably 6 more inches.

On to wanderlust ...

... in December, DH + I visited Florida for a few days.   North Miami to visit the Ancient Spanish Monastery, link here.

... and the Japanese garden in
Delray Beach, FL.   Link here.

... and Kissimmee, FL ...

Back at Home - view from window:

(camera went into hiding for a few weeks)

Was back at the AIC during snow flurries - enjoyed the new contemporary / modern exhibit, the  bronze lace bowl on the terrace, and of course "the bean" in Millennium Park.

Meanwhile, Mom was visiting family in Missouri -- so, I drove & picked her up.   Stopped at the St. Louis Art Museum, too.

... home again.   No trips planned for awhile.
