Needlework & book news:

IMO, the Flowers & Friends Stitching Club patterns are great. Not only are the designs delightful, the patterns are large, diagrams are large, and who could possibly resist the little birds?

Barbara, the green leaves are stitched with Sheep's Silk Dark Moss (The Thread Gatherer). That fiber & charm were with the pattern.
Imagine this little thing has been sitting in my closet for eight years, and is finally STITCHED! I have too many WIPs tucked here-n-there!

Is the lace being read, bobbin lace?? Sounds like it might be...
Has anybody read this one yet? I've heard a lot about it & read an excerpt / first chapter. Sounds like there is another book, sequel, being released, too. Please advise if this is a no-miss!!!
Web Site here
Blog here
I cannot help wonder how much is about bobbin lace making vs a mystery or whatever. Next time I'm at the bookstore, I'll have to look this one up. The library has it on order and a ton of requests.
Like I need another book on my pile of must-reads!!!

Looks like the next novel in this series is a story that includes recipes.

It is being released in October. The Quilter's Kitchen by Jennifer Chiaverini

Fun at the Fair : )

Earlier today, GF Sue D (w/o blog) & I visited the Lake County Fair. In the Family Arts & Crafts Building, Deanna Bassett was demonstrating. I learned how to make a lanyard (I think spelled correctly) using beading wire, crimping tool (crimp the beads to hold the whole thing in place), and lanyard. We chose a charm, beads, spacer beads, and woo-la ... A nifty purse decoration : ) I like the way it turned out!
Friday, there are knitting & crocheting demos. Saturday, Quilting demos. Sunday, Locker Hooking + Quilting. I looked up Locker Hooking on-line. Is this interesting or what???

More progress on Forest Song. And, yes, this design has birds in the corners & a beautiful bird's nest charm in the center.

Ha Ha. And, yes, I have made small progress on my M.Garry Flatfold. I made the small scissors fob! I hope to get the cording made tonight & start stitching the inside pocket.

Flowers & Friends Stitching Club

Found another of those older WIPs. This is such an awesome design. I HAVE to finish it

And, the Milkpaint Sampler by Mary Garry is available. I found a few (on-line) places selling the kits. I made a sketch of what I'm planning to do with the inside, selected some material, felt, etc. & will get moving on the finishing.

Found it!

Thank you for your kind comments & suggestions. I forget that FINISHING just takes time, patience, & practice.

I've been looking all over for this project: Betsy's Butterfly designed by Elizabeth Foster of Elizabeth's Designs c.2000.

I stitched this as a gift for my Mom. One afternoon, she came over with her stitching supplies ... was working on Betsy's Butterfly!! I never told her I had stitched this for her!! (no, she doesn't like computers or read blogs)

I used 28ct champagne linen - substituted the Spanish Moss for Week's Dried Sage - and found some 11/0 Peach seed beads for the edge.

I tried something different for the charm in the center. I didn't have paper to stabilize the linen; however, had felt on hand. Put felt under the linen front & stitched that butterfly into place thru the felt & linen -- the charm does NOT move.

Pulling the next item out for finishing in a minute. I'm determined to get these things FINISHED FINISHED FINISHED. (My finishing song)
