Comments by Judge: Really cute. Excellent job - Where is the "J"?

I used Red Silk, AVAS colour 945 - on 32 count Antique Ivory Linen. Stitched over one thread. 88w x 56h Per instructions "feel free to personalize your sampler with your own name or initials & the date..." I continue to ponder using my name or the sampler-makers names when stitching a repro piece.

OK, my stitching pals ... now it is your turn. How did you do at the fairs this Summer? Congrats to Deb L [w/o blog] for being awarded the Champion Rosette at the Porter Co Fair. Well Deserved. Beautiful L&L piece. Congrats to Sue D and Elaine H, too, for all their ribbon-wearing entries!!! Great job : )

Tonight ... Open House for the Lake County Fair. I have different projects entered. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!! In the past, I've been awarded a couple sweepstakes rosettes on my beaded pins; however, I'd flip for a sweepstakes rosette on any STITCHED piece. That prize continues to pass over my entries year after year : )

They land on Sue D & Deb L's entries!!! They are tops at what they do best : )

Finished ...

This was the last square ... & I added herringbone stitches (927-blue)in the borders.

I'm really pleased with this tabletopper : ) I will work on the nun edge a little at a time over the next couple days. Just wish I could get over this 'cold' bug. It is a drag.

UPDATE: Yes, I do have a place for this tabletopper! Probably put it out after the local Fairs & NANI exhibit. And, I'm keeping it & enjoying it. I like to stitch sampler motifs like these ... now on to my canvas piece. Using metallics is a challenge for me. Thank goodness for pink hair tape -- It does help those sore areas on my fingers!!

M-R Block

Finished another square on Sampler Tabletopper designed by Claudia Dutcher of Dutch Treat Designs.

I've got the border done on the fourth square -- need to add the basket & then finish the final square. Should be so much fun to add the herringbone & eyelet stitches (in blue) inbetween the squares.

I received the Premium Booklet for the Porter County Fair (July 29-29). I've got to go thru my stuff and see what I can enter. I have some WTF items & some WIPs close to being finished. Deadlines can be helpful to get my needles in gear : ) The categories seem similar to previous years. I'd like to get the Tabletopper entered -- maybe DT Sanctuary. I try to enter exhibits into both Porter County and Lake County fairs. Lake County has a thick premium booklet & better categories!! This Fall, our EGA chapter will sponsor an exhibit (no prizes) & I'd like to put some items on display. Always a good time to share needlework among friends.

Nicholas said "thanks" for all his encouraging comments. He is on Spring Break this week & plans to get the wings done. Alex is improved ... this cold is dragging him down. He should be working on the set (for the Spring Play) once he is over this dratted cold.

G-L Block

Image hosting by PhotobucketSampler Tabletopper c.1998 Dutch Treat Designs -- designed by Claudia Dutcher

Image hosting by PhotobucketI started in a corner ... worked the A-F block ... another corner ... finished the G-L block yesterday afternoon [while sitting in the car -- Alex had candy to sell for Radio Club] ... and started my 3rd corner last night.   There are 8 squares to stitch +herringbone rows to add.   Would like to finish this up soon : )

I'm sure my family would prefer me getting some household chores completed!!!

Last episode of Bleak House tonight on p.b.s.   I cannot wait for the conclusion ...

some progress

Image hosting by Photobucket
Maybe more this week-end ....

Teri: To answer your question, the fibers listed on the web site are the fibers I bought. The perle Coton #12 is for the nun edge -- the perle coton #5 & watercolour are for the motifs. It is very pretty -- My photos don't do justice!!

Tabletopper in progress

Image hosting by PhotobucketI started the Sampler Tabletopper during Superbowl. I didn't get many stitches in (yet). I am enjoying these motifs!!

PLUS -- There is a yahoo group for Tabletoppers

Barbara: Tabletoppers are stitched on a nine square cut of 18-count Anne Cloth, over 2 threads, using size 5 perle coton &/or 1 ply of Caron Watercolours thread. Toppers are about 22" x 22". (per the Dutch Treat Web Site)

It looks like maintenance continues on the e-mail system ... was supposed to be down 12 midnight to 6am .... and it is 8:22a.m. .... and still no e-mail. sigh
