Fiber Fun

"F"inished -- Leafy Lisa Shawlette.  Pattern by Kelli Slack.   I used Misty Alpaca Chunky.  After the practice piece - the real wrap was easier to knit.   The chunky yarn was my first time using -- i got used to it after a few rows.     Below, practice piece 'wrap' for souvenir doll.

In photo below, B E E S W A X!   From GF.     Local friend's DH has hives - and I am supposed to keep this sealed up ... yet it has such a fine scent!     I have not had my sewing out (will this week, need to tidy up some origami bags) and will use on my thread.

My progress (sorry, not finish) of the Woolenberry KAL.   Herald by Woolenberry.    The yarn is lovely to knit - Blooming Yarns Cashino.
... and, Antarktis by Woolenberry.    Sadly, only a few more rows added ...

Radiating Hearts pattern by Evelyn Clark - probably for Lace Day raffle ... I used Lion Brand 24/7 cotton yarn.

Randoms ... knitting

Two lace trim practice pieces.   Left from Workbasket (Feb 1956) DMC Cebelia size 30.  Right from Piecework magazine, with corrected pattern on web site and ravelry.    size 0 needle, HDT by Yarnplayer, 50/50 wool/silk, color Peace.
Laura Ricketts, (Laura Ricketts Designs), based this trim (from article Nov/Dec 2014 Piecework issue) on the needle lace found in vault of Lengberg castle, Austria.
This is on size 3 needles; Red Heart yarn, Heart&Sole.

GF Beth's knitted swiffer cover (+sponge).   I used the ladder stitch, based on pattern, Zoom, Erica Brembos.  hint: measure the swiffer before knitting!

Dressing for Spring by Debbie Trainor

These are two knit dresses for dishsoap bottles.   I used Sugar'n Creme cotton yarns.
The patterns are all by Debbie Trainor.

... and, continue with lace scarf.

knitting update ....

I seem to be drawn to knitting patterns with lace techniques.   So far, I've knitted with size 7 or 8 -- so, my MIL gave us some needles - pink ones are size 3.   I visited the LYS and bought a small amount of narrow [fine] yarn to try.   If I can manage - would enjoy making the Japanese Feather Scarf from LAST year's lace issue.   I also picked up this year's lace issue - enjoy it so much.  Purchased the One-skein wonders book --- oodles of patterns.

Since last post - I've made a couple of dish cloth dresses - to put on dish soap bottles:
Both are Debbie Trainor patterns --- can find at craft stores & on-line Ravelry, Craftsy.  Made with Sugar 'n Cream cotton yarns.   [above for MIL, below for SIL]

Washcloth patterns in seed stitch and moss stitch - from Ravelry, designed by Mindy Hudson.  Made with Sugar 'n Cream cotton yarns.
Below, fir cone stitch - from Pauline Knits blog.

And the scarf - the Beginner Scarf from Knitting class --- now 28", almost finished the first skein of yarn - will soon add the 2nd skein of yarn.

I have new bags!

Is this the prettiest pair of snap bags?   I was fortunate to win them at Indiana Lace Day (Saturday 4/11).    Delighted the weather cooperated.   Aside from a cheerful greeting from Sally, these were  gifts to attendees on entering:

I bought some charming bobbins for my knitting.   (from Vendor at Lace Day)
3/pkg -- now I won't be knitting the new scarf with a cast on tail.    I have a practice piece & continue to knit a few rows to catch on to the pattern.    I have 2 skeins of yarn, match the hat [pictured below].  Do you think they will be completed before Winter???

I've used almost a skein of yarn on the maroon color scarf - seed stitch.   I planned to use 2 skeins and some kind of simple fringe on the ends.

btw, if you get the chance .... check out the Ireland exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago (thru June 7th).   A GF + I went 3/17 and enjoyed the displays.   On way out, bought some yarn - pretty +  expensive souvenier!!!
Oh well ... I just need to find a pattern to make something out of it.

The knitted finishes over the past month - yes, the "F" word ... are a hat & dishcloth [MIL gift].

I found this book at JoAnn Fabrics - looks like fun:
I also bought a pattern of Debbie Trainor on-line.  She has a lot of patterns available on line.   Link HERE.    Too cute.
I would enjoy having this on my dish soap in the kitchen.
