This is a quick stitch -- I haven't decided on pinkeep or pincushion - stitched with DMC on 32-ct linen scrap.The oval thread rings are from Hobby Lobby - in the aisle with beads

Yes, yes, yes -- it is all HER fault. Marjorie (Moonsilk Stitches Blog) has a Giveaway on her blog. A Judy Whitman pattern, linen banding, button, the whole project ready to send to some lucky stitcher.
... and, it looked so familiar to me, like I already had that pattern ... or something like it -- and I just HAD to find it ...

I really must stitch more -- this is the motif on the backAnd, I know exactly why I put it aside -- the petite size beads didn't show up & I was thinking to try using the regular size Mill Hill beads.I bought it when it first came out -- mainly because I liked the brass key charms & the idea that our scissors, needles, etc were "treasured tools".
Thx for the get-well wishes, e-mails -- I think I'm turning the corner. Feel more energetic tonight.

I think I made a big mistake. My boyz wanted to buy an i-pod for me. (as a gift) I told them, "no, save your money". But, now, I'm seriously thinking to get one. I really love music (all kinds) and like the way you can just download certain songs without listening to (or fast forwarding thru) songs on CDs that are kinda boring.I'm such a fossil, I sill enjoy listening to the older pop-rock stuff from the 70s -- remember my first Robin Trower concert like it was last week. I realize I'm showing my age now! My i-pod mix would confuse anybody who picked it up ... classical (esp Beethoven), new age, old guitar rock, fav songs from cassettes & CDs.I might even need a docking station!

I seem to have that sniffle, throat, achey bug which has been tagged by my familyI was keeping my fingers crossed that I'd remain un-bugged.
I pulled out this charming Kitten Pinkeep pattern & an unknown 32-count linen piece from my stash.I used DMC floss (3721, 3021, 926, 221, 422, 413, 3051)I made one small change in the design. I changed the cross to a heart-- I now realize my linen is 32 ct & the kitten outline is for 30 ct linenI may have to adjust a bit before I cut out the linen and fabric (for the back)I found an old piece of woven red fabric -- maybe a wool blend -- which I'd like to use, but not sure if it is large enough. I may have to use one of my cotton fabrics
Before I'm asked ... I bought the Thread Rings at Hobby Lobby. They were in the bead aisle, 2/card, marked down 50%I really like the color & they are easy to useI found some mother of pearl rings at Michael's, too -- about 5-6 rings to a card. Didn't buy them, but nice to know they are available

I may have enough linen left over to make the scissor fob, from the freebies section!

Scissor Case Finish

I did get the sides closed up -- used DMC 312 pc#5 -- Long Arm Cross Stitch
I found a container of misc beads -- I've been sorting and bagging themNow ... back to laundry & ironing
As much as I enjoy scissors, I admit using & loving these Gingher thread snippersThey are just easier for me to use than scissors!I bought my Gingher 4" snips at JoAnn Fabrics (with a 50% off coupon)Does anybody else use these? Aren't they great?

I've been listening to this audio book The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I like the audio as there are several different people reading the letters in this novel.
Plus, I can work on finishing for Sue D's scissor keeper! I have the lining sewn in & just need to sew up the sides using the long arm cross stitch. Maybe have a picture to share tomorrow.

WIPs - where did I leave off??

On Superbowl Sunday, I accepted an invitation from GF Kay. Was great to see her again!!! And, I was green with envy -- she had her Drawn Thread: Gameboard Sampler finished & in a beautiful frame, on her coffee table. Not only that, she has been stitching the Acorn Sampler Afghan.GF Sue had a State Day Project with her - from a couple years back. It was canvas work in beautiful teal fibers. GF Tina had a fabulous canvas project (I forget the designer) of quilt blocks. I had my Encore scissor keeper stuff with me. Sue already said it was going to be "hers" b/c I'm using her favourite colors!!! LOL so much fun to gather some of the Thread Heads together. Thx to Kay for hosting! Great food, snacks, and chat : )
Seeing Kay's progress, I just HAD to get mine out & see where I was with those two WIPs
My last post on the DT gameboard says I had 15 houses & 18 motifs done.My Afghan progress to date, looks like I have nine squares completed -- out of 18. I had to remove one motif as it was too off center. Plus, Kay is waiting for me to get to the lettering -- I changed colors from the original chart & shared my choices with her!
ALSO -- I'm waiting to hear how the knitting class went.
Monday, I was out running errands & stopped in the Chesterton Art Center. They have an exhibit thru February 15th - per web site: "Jan 15 - Feb 15 : The Mentors of the Art Center. Our mentors are the wonderful instructors who give their time and talent to our students. Come and view the talent they have to share." Guess who had their prize winning quilt on display??? Pat Winter. I had seen it once, at the String-a-Long Quilt Show last Fall. But, the gallery has it on the wall where you can get really close to see the detail. If you are in the neighborhood, don't miss it!

Last Saturday, Karol & I went to House of Stitches in LaPorte. Karol (Rosebud's Stitching blog) is coordinating a SAL for the NANI chapter members of EGA. She had 18 signed up to stitch My Favorite Things by The Drawn Thread. Special Thx to House of Stitches for having everything together -- looked so nice!!! (& thx for the extra special you-know-whats). I'm certain the NANI group will be thrilled to start this project at the chapter meeting in March!

After shopping, I found a basket of tatting shuttles & pattern books. And - GET OUT - guess who knows how to tat? Did you know there was a tatting expert at House of Stitches??? I bought a couple shuttles : ) And may have a couple lessons soon.

Thx to Karol, we met up with Paisley (Stitchin' Post blog), Coni (Spinster Stitcher blog) & Crys (Coni's sister who doesn't have a blog - and who needs one). After filling our shopping baskets we went to Portofino Grill for lunch. We had a smashing good meal, awesome conversation, & promised to get together again soon. Maybe even to stitch!!!

Scissor Case

I've been stitching over the week-end. This was an EGA chapter project a few years back. It is a small scissor case - great for using up watercolour & perle coton #5 left overs!
